Should I send a thank you letter to a police officer who gave me a speeding ticket? My wife says I should?

since after I got the speeding ticket I am more careful about speeding I am at a lower risk for getting into a collision that will kill me and my family in a car accident that may happen because I was driving to fast to control my car.
