Should i ask my husband if he wants a divorce?

We have been married 11 yrs. He called my 15 yr old son a f***ing idiot and before I knew it I slapped his face...hard. We have not talked since last night. Should I ask him if he wants a divorce? Should I wait for him to talk to me? Should I talk to him? What do I even say? I don't feel sorry for slapping him because our son feels like his dad thinks he is a piece of garbage and he is mentally crushed. Not the first bad thing his dad has said to him. I want my husband to realize he is tearing our son down without me nagging. I don't want to end our marriage. What do I do? What do I say?
